1What is the Cloudaeon Innovation Lab?
Unlike our sister team, Data Foundry, our work focuses on the "prove it" part of value creation rather than the "scale it" part. The Innovation Lab came about as a result of some design thinking workshops that we ran with a global retail customer, and successfully stood up engineering pods to rapidly prototype, test and prove out some hypotheses. Now we've operationalised that process and ERP data is just one of several data innovation themes. We're launching more in Q4 2024 around Generative AI, Synthetic Data, Data Catalogues and more. 2What will I get at the end of the program?
You'll receive a Business Use Case document which clearly outlines the business benefits, project outcome, KPIs (technical and financial) as leading indicators and an evaluation of next steps. If the experiment is a success, you'll have the evidence base to deepen the scope of work to add more data sources and pipelines, but no obligation to do so. This is about getting proof of value in a short period of time. Most importantly, you'll have a strong basis for deciding on which work is important. If the experiment fails, you've lost nothing but gained the knowledge you need internally.
3How much effort is involved to get this going?
Surprisingly little! We know from experience that there is a short period of time for setup (provisioning access so that we can establish a data pipeline capable of high volume replication) but this is organised quite well. The goal is to run the experiment alongside your team but provide all the tools, experts and labour needed.
4How much does the 4-week program cost?
Whilst the Innovation Lab is in Beta (until April 2025) the program is delivered free of charge. The hope is that by proving value quickly and effectively, you'll consider us for future data engineering work... but there is no hard sale from us.
5What business challenges does this solve?
The goal here is to establish proof of value between data teams and their business counterparts by doing the bits in the "messy middle". You already have the data in your ERP systems but don't have the internal resources or bandwidth to get to it. You already have the decision-making framework but don't have the data presented in a way that makes sense to you.
